“Cobra Kai” on Netflix: What’s Next in Season 3?

The first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” have recently started running on Netflix – but they also look away quickly, so that one might now wonder how it will go in season 3. We thought about it a few times …

Warning, spoilers for the first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” will follow!

After “Cobra Kai” originally ran on YouTube Red / Premium, Netflix now came into play – and made the “Karate Kid” series available to millions of subscribers on August 26, 2020. Anyone who has been through as fast as the author of these lines with the previous 20 episodes can hardly wait until the third season, which has already been confirmed, continues in 2021.

Producer Jon Hurwitz has now even confirmed via Twitter that season 3 has already been shot, edited and finished to go on air (unfortunately not until next year):

Season 3 has already been shot, edited and done

Filmed. Edited. Ready to go. Look out for it on @netflix in 2021.

So we don’t need to worry about potential Corona-related postponements for the time being. Instead, we thought about what to expect in the next section of the series – and to which open questions we would like answers.

The fate of Miguel

In the last (and perhaps best) episode of season 2, “No Mercy”, things really get down to business: There is a mass brawl between the students of Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai. But the fight, in which the karate kids beat their way through half the school, comes to a tragic end when Robby (Tanner Buchanan) seriously injures Sam’s ex-boyfriend Miguel (Xolo Maridueña).

At the end of the episode, it is unclear how Miguel is doing. We are pretty sure that Miguel survived the fatal fall. But it will probably not be the same as before. In any case, we expect that the teenager in season 3 will first be busy getting well again (if that is possible at all) – and that he will now see karate with different eyes. The latter should also apply to Robby.

Do Robby and Sam have a future together?

After Robby and Sam (Mary Mouser) became close in the course of the second season and eventually even kissed, their relationship threatens to come to an abrupt end as a result of the tragic incident.

Even though Sam and Robby only fought side by side in the last episode, Daniel LaRusso’s (Ralph Macchio) daughter is no longer too good to speak to her dojo companions after Miguel beat up the hospital.

“Never again karate”

Daniel spent more and more time with his newly opened dojo in season 2, but increasingly neglected his dealership and his wife Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) – which she clearly shows him. In order to keep the house blessing, she finally made a request: “Never again karate!”

And in fact, Daniel is likely to turn away from martial arts for now. After all, it was his student Robby, whom he lovingly took under his wing and whom he taught that karate is not about attack, but above all about defense – and who nevertheless seriously injured Miguel and probably has to fear criminal prosecution. Daniel wanted to do something else with his dojo …

in fact, Daniel is likely to turn away from martial arts for the time being.

Kreese is back!

Cobra Kai founder John Kreese (Martin Kove) grabbed the karate studio again at the end of season 2 – to turn his new protégés into uncompromising fighting machines, as he did with Johnny (William Zabka) and his Pals (in “Karate Kid”) tried Fmovies.

This means that not only is Daniel without a dojo, but also Johnny. But it also has completely different problems …

This means that not only is Daniel without a dojo, but also Johnny.

Johnny lost everything

After Daniel and Johnny get along so well for one evening that as a spectator and “Karate Kid” fan one almost hopes that the two might bury the hatchet, the tatters fly again after Robby hits the drunk Sam brought his father home and let them both speak their fists like before. That’s about the potential friendship – at least for now. But who knows, maybe the arch enemies Daniel and Johnny will soon join forces against the chief villain Kreese?

But who knows, maybe the arch enemies Daniel and Johnny will soon join forces against the chief villain Kreese?

Johnny is not only there without a dojo, he also has to live with the fact that he might have prevented Miguel, who recently became his substitute son, from lying in the hospital. And that, of all things, when he finally got closer to his mother Carmen (Vanessa Rubio). But now she doesn’t want to know anything more about him.

At the same time, the next potential romance is already emerging …

The comeback of childhood love?

And if you finally asked yourself during season 2 whether Ali actress Elisabeth Shue (“Back to the Future II III”, “The Boys”) might return, you will get something like an answer at the end of the last episode Then: Because shortly afterwards, his childhood sweetheart replied to Johnny’s Facebook message with an invitation to friendship.

Shortly thereafter, his childhood sweetheart replied to Johnny’s Facebook message with an invitation to friendship.

It’s just stupid that Johnny sunk his smartphone on the beach. Since the muscle car fan who got stuck in the 80s is slowly but surely arriving in the 21st century, he will surely hear from Ali’s answer sooner or later – on a new cell phone, his laptop or maybe even on a smartwatch!

Besides season 3 of “Cobra Kai”: There are ideas for at least five (!) More “Karate Kid” series
